RTS Design & Craft Awards

Maverick’s New Media team has won the Judges award for Innovation at the Royal Television Society Design and Craft Awards. The Judges said: “The winning team's work is an outstanding example of how TV and Online can successfully converge and produce innovative web content. The new media team’s work supports a range of shows including Embarrassing Bodies, How to Look Good Naked, The Real Hustle and Kirstie's Homemade Home. Embarrassing Bodies Online has been a real success with the website generating 7.5m visits since its launch and 75 million page views and one million people took online checks for STIs via the website. The department also handles online programme support for more than twenty prime time Channel 4 shows including Grand Designs and Location, Location, Location and manage major Channel 4 sites including 4Homes and Film4.”


Sectioned wins Mind Award

Sectioned (BBC Four) has won Best Documentary at the Mind awards. Embarrassing Bodies was also nominated in the same category. Sectioned is a powerful documentary which, for the first time, follows three people who have been sectioned on their journey through the mental health system 


How to Look Good Naked wins AMI Award

How to Look Good Naked with a Difference has won the 'Features Award’ at the AMI (Ability Media International) awards 2010.  The judges recognized the campaign, working with Debenhams, to create an influential advertising campaign using a disabled model in a mainstream way, could have a major positive effect on how disabled people are represented in our culture.


Peer Review

Maverick has been named the second most respected independent production company by its rivals in an industry poll of the 100 top indies, published in Televisual magazine. One source praises the company for “really grasping the potential of multiplatform” while another rival indie says “It’s a great 360 degree company”.


How to Look Good Naked wins Radar Award

How to Look Good Naked…With a Difference won the Factual Media Award at the Radar “People of the Year Awards” 2010. The judges were looking for “…the very best practice in disability equality - to identify the organisations and individuals who are 'ahead of the curve' and can show us all the way forward”.


Embarrassing Bodies Live wins Broadcast Digital Award

Embarrassing Bodies Live has won the Broadcast Digital Award for Best Use of Interactive. A strong field included Psychoville (BBC), Primeval (ITV), Antony Gormley's One & Other (Sky Arts), and 1066 (Channel 4). Thanks to the judging panel and congratulations to the team.


Second Bafta for Embarrassing Bodies

Embarrassing Bodies and Embarrassing Bodies Live collected a Television Craft BAFTA for Interactive Creative Contribution. It is a special honour as the competition was particularly strong, with the Apprentice Predictor, Derren Brown’s Science of Scams, and Who Killed Summer also nominated.


4Homes wins Twitter award

The Golden Twits, the first annual Twitter awards, have taken place, with @4Homes picking up the award for Live Broadcast for our work tweeting along with shows like Relocation, Relocation and The Home Show. Other winners included the Compare the Meerkat campaign, Manchester City Football Club, Dragons' Den star Duncan Bannatyne and Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger. Winners had to keep their acceptance speeches to 140 characters or less.


Embarrassing Bodies wins at RTS

Embarrassing Bodies picked up two awards, including the prestigious award for 'Best Independent Programme'. The award was collected by Steph Harris (Executive Producer) & Sarah Eglin (Series Producer) alongside members of the hard-working team that had made the series such as success.


BAFTA Television Awards

Embarrassing Bodies Online won the Interactivity Bafta at the 2009 British Academy Television Awards. Beating strong competition from the BBC's Merlin, Bryony Makes a Zombie Movie and Olympics 2008, the award was collected by Head of New Media Dan Jones, Site Producer Alex Hryniewicz, C4 Commissioning Editor Adam Gee and Executive Producer Steph Harris, together with the EB Docs.
