Autonomy is led by a close-knit and highly experienced management team. They bring together extensive expertise covering every facet of information technology and its constituent sectors and markets.

Dr Mike Lynch OBE FREng Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Dr Mike Lynch OBE studied Engineering at Cambridge University and obtained a PhD in mathematical computing. He is a technology entrepreneur and is a pioneer of the Meaning Based Computing movement. Mike has founded a number of technology companies, including Autonomy, the UK's largest software company by market capitalization and a member of the FTSE 100. He has held a number of advisory and board roles in the venture capital industry and is currently a non-executive director of the BBC.

He was named the Confederation of British Industry's Entrepreneur of the Year, the European Business Leaders Awards' Innovator of the Year for pioneering new approaches to search and information processing technology, and Management Today's Entrepreneur of the Year 2009. Mike won an IEE Award for Outstanding Achievement and was awarded an OBE for Services to Enterprise.

He is also a fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, a Lady Margaret Beaufort Fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge, and the author of a number of academic papers on the subject of Pattern Recognition and Signal Processing.

Sushovan Hussain Board Director and Chief Financial Officer

Sushovan Hussain has served as our Chief Financial Officer since June 2001 and was appointed a Director in June 2003. Prior to joining Autonomy, Mr Hussain worked for LASMO plc, one of the world's largest independent oil and gas exploration companies, where he held a number of senior international financial positions, including three years in the Corporate Development department, charged with acquisitions and divestments. Mr Hussain received his B.A. in Economics from Cambridge University, England, and became a qualified Chartered Accountant while employed at Ernst & Young in London.

Robert S Webb QC Non-Executive Chairman

Robert S Webb QC (Queen's Counsel) was appointed as Non-Executive Chairman of the Board in May 2009. From 1998 through the end of March 2009 Mr Webb served as General Counsel at British Airways, and in that role was responsible for the legal function with oversight of Government and Industry Affairs, Safety and Security, Risk Management, Business Continuity and British Airways Health Services, and was also variously responsible for Environmental Policy and Corporate Responsibility. Prior to joining British Airways Mr Webb was called to The Bar, Inner Temple 1971, and appointed Queen's Counsel in 1988. Mr Webb served as Head of Chambers, 5 Bell Yard, London, from 1988 to 1998; Recorder of the Crown Court from 1993 to 1998; Bencher, Inner Temple 1997; and as Chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Bar Council 1997/8. Mr Webb's other current engagements include: Non Executive Director of the London Stock Exchange since 2001, where he serves as Chair of the Remuneration Committee; Non Executive Director of the BBC since 2007, where he serves as Chair of the Fair Trading Committee; Non Executive Director of Hakluyt, a private business research company, since 2005, where he serves as Chair of the Remuneration Committee; and Non Executive Director of Argent Group Limited, a property company, since April 2009.

Richard Gaunt Board Member

Richard G. Gaunt co-founded Autonomy and served as Technical Director from our inception in March 1996 to 2005. He currently serves as a member of Autonomy's Board. Prior to founding Autonomy, Mr Gaunt served as Technical Director of Cambridge Neurodynamics Limited since 1991. Mr Gaunt holds a BSc in electronic engineering and an MSc from the University of Natal in Durban. Mr Gaunt was appointed to the Board when Autonomy was founded in 1996.

John McMonigall Board Director

John P. McMonigall has served as a non-executive director of Autonomy since July 1998. Since April 1990, Mr McMonigall has worked for Apax Partners Worldwide LLP, a private equity firm, where he is responsible for Apax' investments in private companies in telecommunications, software and related fields. From 1986 to 1990, Mr McMonigall held a variety of positions at British Telecom where he served as a member of the Management Board. He currently serves on the board of Dialog Semiconductor Plc. Mr McMonigall also serves on the boards of several privately owned companies as a non-executive director.

Jonathan Bloomer Board Director

Jonathan Bloomer has served as a non-executive director of Autonomy since August 2010. Mr Bloomer has been a partner with Cerberus European Capital Advisors, LLP since 2005. He was previously Group Chief Executive of Prudential plc from March 2000 until May 2005, and Group Finance Director from January 1995. Prior to this he was a senior partner in Arthur Andersen's financial markets division based in London and the managing partner of their European Insurance Practice.

Mr Bloomer's other current engagements include: Executive Chairman of Lucida plc; Chairman of Scottish Re, Non-Executive Director of Hargreaves Lansdown plc; and Chairman of the Advisory Panel of the Financial Institutions Faculty of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is a Trustee and Treasurer of the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Mr Bloomer previously was a member of the Financial Services Practitioner Panel of the Financial Services Authority from 2000 to 2006 (Chairman Nov 2003 - Oct 2005). He was a Member of the Board of the Geneva Association from 2001 to 2005 and a member of the board of the Association of British Insurers from 2000 to 2005. He was also a member of the Urgent Issues Task Force of the Accounting Standards Board from 1995 to 1999.

Dr Frank Kelly FRS Board Director

Dr Frank Kelly FRS has served as a non-executive director of Autonomy since May 2010. Dr Kelly is Professor of the Mathematics of Systems in the Statistical Laboratory, University of Cambridge, and Master of Christ's College, Cambridge. His main research interests are in random processes, networks and optimization. Professor Kelly is the author of scores of leading mathematics publications. Professor Kelly served as Chief Scientific Adviser to the U.K.'s Department for Transport from 2003 to 2006. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1989. In December 2006 he was elected 37th Master of Christ's College, Cambridge.

Professor Kelly currently serves as a Member of Cambridge University's Council and its Remuneration Committee. Professor Kelly joined the Editorial Board of Internet Mathematics in 2003. Professor Kelly has received numerous honours, including: Davidson Prize (1979); Guy Medal in Silver of the Royal Statistical Society (1989); Lanchester Prize of the Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (1991); Naylor Prize of the London Mathematical Society (1997); Honorary Doctorate of Science, Heriot-Watt University (2001); IEEE Koji Kobayashi Computers and Communications Award (2005); John von Neumann Theory Prize of INFORMS (2008); SIGMETRICS Achievement Award (2009); and the Gold Medal of the Association of European Operational Research Societies (2009).

Autonomy Executive Officers

Dr. Peter Menell Chief Research Officer

Dr. Peter Menell, D.Phil. Oxon, joined Autonomy's Engineering and Technology Solutions unit in 1998 and served as Chief Technology Officer between 2004 and 2010. During that time he oversaw a number of significant advances in Autonomy technology, including key new patents filed, and was responsible for the successful deployment of Autonomy software at multi-divisional organizations across the globe. In his current position as Chief Research Officer, Peter has oversight on the technology Autonomy produces. Prior to joining Autonomy, Dr Menell conducted computational and neuro-physiology research in visual and auditory impairment. Dr Menell holds a B.A. (Hons) and M.Sc. from York University and a D.Phil. from Magdalen College Oxford.

Andrew M. Kanter Chief Operating Officer

Andrew M. Kanter joined Autonomy in August 2000 as Vice President, International Operations and Legal Affairs, and has served as our Chief Operating Officer since 2001. Prior to joining Autonomy, from July 1999 through July 2000, Mr Kanter was an associate attorney with Brobeck Hale and Dorr in London, England, primarily engaged in international mergers and acquisitions and corporate finance. From May 1997 through June 1999, Mr Kanter was an associate attorney in the Business & Technology group of Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison in San Francisco, CA, and prior to that was an associate attorney with Shearman & Sterling, San Francisco, CA. From August 1995 to July 1996 Mr Kanter was Clerk to Hon. Christine Miller of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, Washington, DC. Mr Kanter holds a J.D. from the University of Southern California Law Center and a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University, and also studied at Kansai University of Foreign Studies, Osaka, Japan.

Eloy Avila Chief Technology Officer

Eloy Avila joined Autonomy in January of 2004 and has been a part of the technology team since, most recently holding the role of US CTO. Prior to joining Autonomy, Mr. Avila did research and worked on building ultra-efficient electric vehicles. Mr. Avila holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, CA.

Stouffer Egan Chief Executive Officer, Autonomy Inc - U.S.

Stouffer Egan joined Autonomy in March 2001 as Director of Global Accounts. He has served as our Chief Executive Officer, Autonomy Inc, since 2002. Prior to joining Autonomy, from February 2000 through to March 2001, Mr Egan was Vice President of Corporate Development for LeadingSide Inc. From January 1995 through February 2000, Mr Egan held various positions with Dataware Technologies, most recently as Vice President, Corporate Development. Mr Egan holds a B.A. in Economics from Trinity College, CT.

Joel Scott Chief Operating Officer, Autonomy Inc - U.S.

Joel Scott joined Autonomy in 2005. Mr. Scott is COO-US, with responsibility for operations across the entire North American region. Previously, Mr. Scott served as General Counsel for the Autonomy group's US entities. Prior to joining Autonomy, Mr. Scott served as Director of Legal Affairs at Brocade Communications Systems, a leading provider of data center networking solutions and services, and held senior positions at several Silicon Valley startups. Mr. Scott began his distinguished career at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP, one of the world's most prestigious law firms. Mr. Scott has a BA, Joint Honours, in English and Philosophy from McGill University, and holds a Juris Doctorate from Stanford Law School.

Nicole Eagan Chief Marketing Officer

Nicole Eagan joined Autonomy as Group Chief Marketing Officer in January 2006. Prior to working for Autonomy Ms Eagan served Verity as a Senior Vice President of Marketing and Chief Marketing Officer from June 2005. Before joining Verity, Ms Eagan was Vice President, Global Marketing at Quest Software, an application, database and Windows management company from 2004 to 2005. Prior to Quest, Ms Eagan was the Senior Vice President of Global Marketing at Peregrine from 2001 to 2004. Ms Eagan also held senior marketing, strategy and business development positions at Extricity, a business process management company and Oracle Corporation. Ms Eagan holds a Bachelor's Degree in Science from the Montclair University.

Ian Black Head of Global Operations, Autonomy Group

Ian Black joined Autonomy in June 2000 as Director of Corporate Communications and has served as Managing Director Aungate since 2003. Prior to joining Autonomy Ian operated a number of his own businesses providing communications consultancy to a distinguished list of multi-nationals and European government agencies. After joining British Aerospace - latterly BAE SYSTEMS - in 1989 and as Head of Corporate Communications, Ian achieved a string of world 'firsts' including deployment of the world's first live business television system which was itself a forerunner of another world first: a global automated Intranet. Throughout the 90's Ian's work earned over a dozen awards as part of BAE's top-120 group driving cultural change throughout the company. He also founded and participated in a number of external I.T networks and organizations such as the DTI's CSSA National E-Commerce Committee. Ian studied Physiology at Henley Management College and Business Administration at Filton College Bristol.

Fernando Lucini Chief Architect

Fernando Lucini joined Autonomy in 2000. Presently serving as Chief Architect of the Autonomy group and Head of Global Presales. To this role, he brings years of experience in enterprise-level software applications. Prior to joining Autonomy, Mr Lucini was Solutions Manager for LeadingSide Inc, responsible for determining solutions strategy across the enterprise. Mr Lucini holds a BEng Hons in Communications and Electronic Engineering from the University of Kent, and an MBA from IE Business School.

Rafiq Mohammadi CEO, Promote, Meaning Based Marketing

As CEO of Autonomy Promote, Meaning Based Marketing, Rafiq is transforming Marketing with next-generation solutions that enable businesses to understand and act on all forms of customer information. We call this new unique Autonomy approach, Meaning Based Marketing.

Rafiq has more than 15 years of experience in the content management space and he is highly respected in the industry. Rafiq served as Group CTO of Autonomy, after the completion of Autonomy's acquisition of Interwoven. He co-founded iManage, Inc. in 1995. Rafiq also played the role of CTO at iManage, where he was a key member of the team that successfully built the company from a start-up to a profitable and growing publicly traded software company that went IPO within four years. After the Interwoven's acquisition of iManage in 2004, Rafiq was CTO of Interwoven for four years, where he helped the company to establish its dominant market leadership in both Web Content Management and Document Management. As an entrepreneur, Rafiq has enjoyed contributing to both technology and business.

Rafiq holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.

Neil Araujo CEO Protect, Professional Markets

As CEO of Autonomy iManage, Neil Araujo will lead the Autonomy iManage team, as it embarks on an exciting new era of bringing a meaning-based approach to the legal market.

Neil was one of the original founders of iManage, Inc. which started in 1995. At iManage he was a key member of the team that successfully built the company from a start-up to a profitable and growing publicly traded software company that went IPO within four years, before the company was acquired by Interwoven in 2004. At Interwoven, Neil played a key role in driving the strategy and in growing the professional services division's market share in the legal market from 40 percent to 75 percent. In addition, he played an instrumental role in expanding the business into new adjacent verticals markets and geographies, resulting in the division's revenues doubling within three years. Neil has a proven track record of delivering high-impact business results. He is highly respected in the legal market with a passion for helping customers succeed.

Mike Sullivan CEO Protect, Enterprise Markets

As CEO of Autonomy Protect, Enterprise Markets, Mike manages all aspects of operations including global infrastructure, data centers, customer and technical support, professional services, and electronic discovery operations. Mike is actively engaged with customers and solution development.

Mike founded Steelpoint Technologies in 1993 and served as CEO and President until the company was acquired by ZANTAZ in August of 2004. Under his leadership, Steelpoint achieved outstanding revenue and profit growth and was recognized as one of the fastest growing software companies in the US. Mike was recognized twice by Ernst & Young as an Entrepreneur of the Year and is credited with helping Steelpoint, and later ZANTAZ, establish a dominant market position as a provider of solutions for Electronic Discovery, Litigation Support and Digital Archiving in a hosted model.

Mike began his career as a software developer with Raytheon Company and went on to hold management positions at technology consulting companies focused on content management technologies. Mike is a graduate of Bentley College with degrees in Computer Information Systems and Business Management. He is also an accomplished pianist.

Andrew Joiner CEO Promote, Multichannel Technology

As CEO of Autonomy Promote, Multichannel Technology, Andrew leads the businesses specializing in advanced technologies for organizations seeking to organize, understand and optimize on multichannel customer interactions across the web, contact center, social media and more. In this role, Andrew is a primary advocate for the Chief Customer Officer and every organization's desire to compile a complete and meaningful picture of their customer interactions.

Prior to joining Autonomy through the ZANTAZ acquisition in 2007, Andrew served as a CEO and President of Singlecast Technologies Inc., an early pioneer of information classification, real-time policy management and compliance & legal technologies, which he founded. From 1996 to 2002 Mr. Joiner served as an investment banker with Citigroup in New York City. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Vanderbilt University and is a graduate of Harvard Business School.

David Humphrey Managing Director, Virage Security and Surveillance

David Humphrey is a chartered electrical engineer, and after the acquisition of Neurodynamics by Autonomy in 2005, he continues to oversee operations for Virage Security and Surveillance, pioneering intelligent video-analytic technologies for international installations. Mr Humphrey has fifteen years experience in advanced video-analytics, with eleven years on security applications, culminating in the directorship of a leading provider of security and surveillance solutions to defense agencies, governments and major corporations around the globe. Specializing in advanced conceptual analytics for intelligent scene analysis systems, Mr Humphrey has led Virage Security and Surveillance through over 150 major deployments including numerous government classified projects. He has extensive experience in hardware and software algorithm design, including parallel processing super computer and precision instrumentation design.

Bryan Rellinger Head of Global Professional Services

Bryan Rellinger is the Head of Global Professional Services for Autonomy, responsible for managing and directing all aspects of the professional services team worldwide. Bryan has over 13 years of consulting experience both building and managing professional services teams in various organizational stages.

Previously, Bryan was Vice President of Professional Services at Verity, Inc where he helped set direction and execution strategy before and during the Verity acquisition by Autonomy. Prior to that Bryan was the Director of Professional Services for Cardiff Software where he helped grow and lead Cardiff's Professional Services team worldwide. Bryan began his career spending 5 years as a trusted business advisor with Arthur Andersen as part of the Business Consulting Practice. Bryan graduated with honors while earning both a Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration from Western Michigan University.

Independent Advisors to the Board

Barry Ariko

Barry M. Ariko served as a non-executive director of Autonomy between January 2000 and October 2010. From November 2003, Mr Ariko has served as CEO and President of Mirapoint, Inc., a leader in messaging networks. From January 2000, until it was acquired by Peregrine Systems in May 2001, he was Chairman, CEO and President of Extricity, Inc., a provider of software for the management of inter-company transactions and workflow. Prior to Extricity, he was Senior Vice President of AOL, which had acquired Netscape Communications Corp., where he was Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer with primary responsibility for the enterprise software business since August 1998. From April 1994 to August 1998, Mr Ariko was Executive Vice President in charge of the Americas operations for Oracle Corp. Mr Ariko also serves as a director of Incyte and Aspect Communications. Mr Ariko holds a B.S. in Management from Golden Gate University in San Francisco and in 1992 completed the Advanced Executive Program at Northwestern University's J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Richard N. Perle

Richard N. Perle served as a non-executive director of Autonomy between February 2000 and October 2010. Mr Perle has also served as Resident Fellow of the American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research since 1987. From 1981 to 1987 he was the United States Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Policy.

Mr Perle is a director of Hollinger International, Inc., a publicly traded company that publishes English language newspapers in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Israel, and Tapestry Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a pharmaceutical company focused on the development of proprietary therapies for the treatment of cancer.

Mr Perle attended the London School of Economics with Honors Examinations, received an M.A. in politics from Princeton University and a B.A.. from the University of Southern California in international relations, and completed various fellowships at Princeton University, the Ford Foundation and the American Council of Learned Societies.

Anthony Bettencourt

Anthony was the Chief Executive Officer at Verity, Inc, prior to Autonomy's acquisition of the company in 2005. At Verity, he grew the business from $15m to more than $140m from 1995 to 2005. He played an instrumental role in Autonomy's acquisition of Verity, ZANTAZ (2007) and Interwoven (2009).

In 2005, Anthony was awarded the prestigious Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Software and Technology category in Northern California. He is the Chairman of the Board of Blinkx, Inc. Anthony also serves on the Advisory Board of Santa Clara University's Center for Science, Technology and Society and on the Board of the Alameda County Community Food Bank. Anthony earned a B.A. in English from Santa Clara University.

Dr Nick Kingsbury

Nick Kingsbury received an honours degree in 1970 and a Ph.D. degree in 1974, both in electrical engineering, from the University of Cambridge. From 1973 to 1983 he was a Design Engineer and subsequently a Group Leader with Marconi Space and Defense Systems, Portsmouth, specializing in digital signal processing and coding, as applied to speech coders, spread spectrum satellite communications, and advanced frequency hopping radio systems. Since 1983 he has been Director of Studies in Information Engineering at Trinity College Cambridge, and from 1986 a University Lecturer in Signal Processing at the University of Cambridge. In October 2000 he was appointed to a Readership in the Department of Engineering at Cambridge. In recent years he has developed Dual-Tree Complex Wavelets, and has investigated a wide range of their applications in Image Processing and the analysis of 3D datasets, such as video sequences and medical imagery. He is a member of the IEEE.

Professor William J. Fitzgerald

William J. Fitzgerald is the Professor of Applied Statistics and Signal Processing in the Department of Engineering, University of Cambridge, England. He works on Bayesian inference applied to signal and data modelling. He is also interested in nonlinear signal processing, image restoration and medical imaging, extreme value statistics, bio-informatics, data mining and data classification. He is particularly interested in the applications of Sequential Monte Carlo (particle filtering) methods to signal processing and communication problems. He is also a Fellow of Christ's College, Cambridge.
