GreenCross President & Medical Cannabis user who uses cannabis to for severe nerve pain arrested!Billy Mckee has been arrested and is facing four charges of supply, and one charge of cultivation, the supply charges cover a small number of different dates over the last 8 months or so. There is, so far, no direct evidence of an undercover police operation, but that is the impression taken from the wording on the search warrant. He is scheduled to appear in the Levin District Court on July 28, It is expected that the Levin District Court will remand the case to the High Court, this will also be his first chance to demand disclosure of the prosecution evidence. Billy has applied for legal aid, and is currently waiting for that to be approved so that he can discuss the case with a lawyer.
Billy now has to use prescription "zombie" medication to treat himself, we are concerned about the negative effects that will have for Billy and family, He is in a wheelchair and many of Greencrosses members are elderly and vulnerable.
Billy Mckee is NOT a criminal! He is a Medical Cannabis user who uses cannabis to for severe nerve pain, he is in a wheelchair all the time after after losing his leg to a drunk driver, and is in pain and discomfort all of the time. The only thing that works to calm it down that he can actually use over a long period of time without getting serious side-effects is cannabis!

FREE BILLY MCKEEIn May 2011, the Law Commission called for urgent research on medicinal cannabis and a moratorium on police arrests of medicinal users. Police have responded to this recommendation by arresting GreenCross President, Medical Cannabis Patient and Law Campaigner, Billy McKee. He is scheduled to appear in the Levin District Court on July 28th.Billy is in a wheelchair all the time after after losing his leg to a drunk driver, and constantly suffers pain and discomfort. The only thing that works to calm it down that he can actually use over a long period of time without getting serious side-effects is cannabis!
Green Party Co-leader Metiria Turei said “police targeting New Zealanders for medicinal use of cannabis was a waste of resources.” "The continual harassment by police of ill people is a disgrace it is inhumane to subject amputees and cancer victims to this irrational law. “We need to act swiftly on the Law Commission’s recommendations for drug law reform so that ill New Zealanders are treated with dignity and respect.”
GreenCross NZ is a patient orientated organization committed to making cannabis legally available for medicinal purposes. To become a member of GreenCross the patient must have the written acknowledgement of their Dr or Specialist, many of GreenCrosses patients are elderly. Others are wheelchair bound. Some both.
GreenCross Mission Statement
To achieve a change in the law which presently prohibits the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes so that those who are ill, with the aid and observation of their personal doctor, may be allowed to cultivate, obtain, possess and utilize medicinal cannabis at their physician's discretion in order to ensure the recommended prescribed treatment remains uninterrupted.
Aims
• To end the suffering that is unnecessarily caused by the restrictive cannabis laws that prevent doctors from caring for their patient in the most appropriate manner.
• To encourage those already self-medicating with cannabis to seek professional guidance.
• To give choice to the patient whose body may not tolerate other treatments.
• To educate the general public about the benefits of cannabis in preference to approved pharmaceuticals where these produce damaging or unpleasant side-effects.
• To meet the need of both patients and society through open and honest education.
• To assist members who have a registered medical professional supporting them to come together to seek a lawful supply of professionally supported cannabis.First Protests will be held on 28 July · 09:00 - 12:00
